TIGER INDUSTRIES ANNOUNCES:  THE NEW “GREEN” PocketShear Lite™

Tiger Industries Corporation announces the development of their newest addition to the PocketShear™ line of tendon end-finishing products for post-tension cables.

PocketShear Lite™ is a highly desirable “green” solution to tendon end-finishing that is manufactured entirely in the United States.  This environmentally friendly tool cuts with no oxyacetylene bottles, sparks or chemical fluids. 

PocketShear Lite™ is powered by a 28-volt Lithium Li battery that provides enough energy to cold-shear over sixty 1/2" cables, but recharges each battery in only one hour.  Each PocketShear Lite™ is shipped with two rechargeable batteries and a battery charger, providing a constantly replenished source of power with no dangling hoses or cords.  Purchase of two additional batteries, along with an optional three-station battery charger, provides enough power to rotate batteries for more than a day’s worth of tendon finishing.

Like the entire PocketShear™ line of cold-shearing products, PocketShear Lite™ cuts at a uniform length inside the pocket, providing a smooth tendon end that can be immediately capped and grouted without waiting for a heated tendon end to cool off.   The pocket inner surface is left clean, without the slag and residue left by other methods that restrict bond between the pocket surface and the grout patch.

The tendon tail is held securely by the clamp until the operator deposits it in a safe location, thus protecting personnel and equipment below the slab area.   

PocketShear Lite,™ along with all other PocketShear™ cutting devices, provides significant labor cost savings with the elimination of the need for a “fire-watch guy” on the job site.  Because no sparks are produced with this cold-shearing method, there is no necessity to obtain an OSHA “hot-work permit” for cutting cables.

PocketShear Lite™ is available in .5” and .6” models, and an open-throat and center-hole version is available in each size.
